DescriptionHonestly… if anything in this world "goes without saying," it's this drawing. This is not the only Marilyn by Stevens. Crossfire #12 (and the resulting poster). The Alien Worlds #1 story, Fair Play. And a pencil drawing in the Sketches & Studies book, vol 3. There may be others. But the idea that he popped this one out as a request in a sketch book is just insane. Those two little cut-outs at the bottom? No clue. I have wondered if this was framed in a way that highlighted the signature, and it was done for a mat board? There are traces of lines at the edges, so it looks to be deliberate and measured.Social/Sharing |

Very nice, Stevens left up too young. I wish he had drawn some Marvel superheroes too though.

Whats the reason for the two rather strange cutout pieces at the bottom?

Hi Peter - No clue at all. That's how it was when I bought it (a long, long time ago, off eBay, if you can believe that - it was the Wild West back then). The measurement markings are showing, so it sure looks like it was deliberate. I always assumed this was matted and framed at some point, and this was done to accommodate a fancy mat cut.
