DescriptionAlthough others may disagree, in my view, Gene Colan was best known for his work on Daredevil - Howard the Duck, Dr. Strange, and Tomb of Dracula notwithstanding. True, Gene worked on virtually every major Marvel title (and most major DC titles) during his long career. But, Colan began his run on Daredevil with issue 20, and penciled all but three issues through issue 100. What are the odds of seeing that continuity these days?

Ron, I love this title splash!!! Man, Colan's DD was awesome and when he draws shadows it's just a thing of beauty.

Oh my god, I thought the 30 cover was amazing but this splash is freakin' sublime! What kind of deep collections are you accessing these days?!?

I really dig these old school splash pages. For us aging boomers, this is what comics are all about!

You're spot on regarding Mr. Colan - a very unique style that certainly shows in this piece.

Nice! I've been reading all of Gene's DDs since last year (thanks to the Essential editions)--almost all I missed as a kid. This is a great example of Gene as both storyteller and illustrator supreme. Tells you everything you need to know in one shot, and also very cinematic, a trademark of Gene's inimitable style. Well done!

The positioning and inks are pure Gene Colan - one of the best splashes I can think of on his DD run. Good show old chap!

The cast shadow is genius. It's what makes the page pop. Colan was so skilled at using contrast to draw the eye - contrast in size, shape and tone. This is fantastic!!

Spectacular! Cool image and I love the inks. George Klein is great over Colan. Agree George doesn't get the credit he deserves. Congrats!

Reminds me Jerry Robinson on Batman! Something very golden on this silver age page! Big congrats.

You're right about Klein. This is a beautifully drawn and rendered page!

Such a well designed splash, and those Klein inks are so gorgeous. About as fine a Gene Colan DD example as you could want. Congrats on picking this up. Stay safe buddy.
