Description

I set a collecting goal for myself years ago: acquire a page from every interior artist who worked on the Brian Michael Bendis Avengers Saga. I am thrilled to say that now I am one step closer to that goal! This DPS was inked by Scott Hanna from a blueline copy of Walt Simonson's hyper-stylized pencils, and it features Iceman, Colossus, and the Red Hulk. The battle takes place in the context of the AvX crossover, which pitted the Avengers against the X-Men. Big thanks to CAFer David Brischler for allowing me to make this purchase from him!

Sweet layouts! It's like an animated storyboard with widescreen action for the Red Hulk to do his thing in an AvX crossover issue!

As far as compelling "intersections" go, you can't do much better than meeting on the corner of Simonson and Bendis! Outstanding pick up, Doc! One look will tell you how much fun the whole team was having on this project, and how totally stoked Scott was to be inking the great Walt Simonson here; devotedly faithful renderings of the big, bold, swooping lines and rich and striking pools of blacks that are Walt's hallmarks. This has gotta leave you reeling from a gamma-powered punch when you see it in person! Smashing, Doc! Congrats!
