Description

Outside of the X-men, I think John Byrne's greatest contribution to comic art was his second run on FF, with apologies to the great Joe Sinnott. In that second run, particularly early on, Byrne was still in his prime and at the height of his abilities -- as he tried to be a modern day Lee AND Kirby. Byrne's enthusiasm for the FF burst off the page, and in some ways, his run equaled that of his idols. He brought us to new worlds, resurrected old demons and even gave Galactus a new herald, namely Terrax, who is fighting the FF on this page. For a good chunk of the beginning of that run, when Byrne's writing ideas were fresh, his pencils were at their peak and his inking was so beautifully clean and precise, the FF more than lived up to its masthead as the World's Greatest Comic Magazine!

Well said indeed! I think these pages are pure gold, Byrne's FF vs Galactus is THE arc of his great FF run! What a powerhouse story that was, and this is a very memorable page from the story, WOW!
