Calendar original for the record store The Sound Spectrum in Laguna Beach-- Bill was kind of a artist mentor yet I was one of his patrons. Bought a lot of art from him when I probably should have been buying Buscemas. He was kind of a big art legend in a small pond of Orange County amongst the hippy doper kids. Lots of people copied his little people, glittering surf girls and trippy lettering.
He had a bit of a Surf Artist rivalry with Rick Griffin who was A more famous and important due to his Rock posters and Zap comics. Rick because World famous while Bill slipped into oblivion, smoking a lot of grass and becoming a desert rat when he couldn't live in Laguna cheap any more. He tried to be an oil landscape painter and showed promise, but never stuck with it (at least publicly.) This was a wonderful poster that was hand separated and beautifully printed. Maybe I'll try and dig out the print if anyone cares to see it.
