DescriptionThe early 80s had two great DC books - The Legion of Super-Heroes and The New Teen Titans by Marv Wolfman and George Perez.I've wanted a Perez piece for some time, but ... This year, 2013, he came to Comicpalooza and opened a pre-con commission list. I jumped on it, but as quick as I was, I feared that I was too late. Confirmation took a few days. I asked George for two of the characters he designed for the NTT - Raven and her father, Trigon since my main theme is comic artists and the characters I associate with them. To me, this was the best choice because they were both "his." The show rolls around and the rule is that those on the pre-con list can just walk to the front of the line and pick-up their art. I was there early, but since I knew I could cut in line, I didn't hurry over to get it. When I finally came over, George made a big deal out of it - showing the piece to the really, really long line. There were ooos and ahhs as one might expect. We spoke for a minute and then I got out of his way. I promise you - over the three days of the show - George never left his table, he had a smile on the entire time, and he drew for everyone that asked. It was amazing to see. Of course, I was in such a hurry to let the hoards back at George that I forgot to take a picture with him until later in the day. I went back at the front of the line and asked. He said, "Of course." and result is in the Additional Images. Great comic book artist and a better man. He treats his fans like they were gold. I'm pretty happy about now. :) Social/Sharing |

WOW - words escape me on this piece - a great concept, beautifully rendered by GP. Great to see another character from the Titans Legends used. Congratulations.

This is one of these pieces you keep coming back to and seeing more and more details - just had to mention the drape on Raven's cape - that man should do this professionally ;-)

Trigon has never looked more sinister ! Love the hatching gp has drawn on him. Makes him come alive. This is a truly brilliant commission!

Like Kevin I keep returning to this piece. Such elegance....only GP should ever draw these amazing covers. The more of these commissions I see the more I wish someone would collect them in a sketch or coffe table book

Wow, great commission from George (not that he ever does bad ones). Good idea to get the 2 of these characters together like that.
