Description

Following in the footsteps of Raymond and Williamson, Carlos Garzon took on the art chores to Flash Gordon when the rights reverted from Charlton back to Western in 1978. Obviously, Garzon's style was heavily influenced by Williamson, who in turn was heavily influenced by Raymond and these pages demonstrate influences of both.

These pages come from the first 22 page comic story of Flash Gordon 35 entitled Queen of Ice, Queen of Fire referring to Fria, Raymond's Queen of Ice married to Ronal and Zarah the blind queen of fire. The story was written by John Warner and was reprinted in the Flash Gordon Comic-Book Archives (Dark Horse, 2010 series)

This is page 6 of the story and Flash and Zarkov enlist Ronal to help them determine what is happening in the mountains of the Ice Kingdom but the ship is hit and crashes in the ice and snow. How would the story maintain drama if the ship actually got where it was supposed to go?? Another page that screams the influences of Raymond and Williamson.

All of these originals are twice-up and very impressive.

I have 19 of the 22 pages of this story. If anyone knows where page 1, 2 and 16 live I'd love to know.
