Description
Topps is releasing an updated set of their classic 1962 MARS ATTACKS! trading cards and I was asked to provide a 6 card subset entitled "Man vs. Martian. As a fan of these cards since childhood I was thrilled to participate and had an absolute blast! I painted them a bit smaller than usual (approx 7"x10") so wouldn't be tempted to render too tightly. I wanted to keep a bit of a retro, pulpy feel to them.

Assignment Description from Topps;
A group of well-trained humans have brought down a Martian Saucer!
A saucer has just impacted into a town square!  A group of well armed civilians have been organizing and devising tactics to defeat the Martians and they're finally succeeding!  Using advanced electronics and computerized systems to disrupt the saucers engines, one such group has downed a saucer, smashing it to bits!   Some of these well-trained civilians stand reacting to the impact, with weapons brandished.  One holds a dead Martian, perhaps, and the landscape is war-torn, with buildings damaged, etc.  Innocent civilians can also be standing around or running for cover— women, children, businessmen, etc.

These are amazing - missed some of the art from the original series  30 years ago including a piece where the saucer was like this one - like many folks the original set was the high point of my eighth grade (and yes you had to be careful taking them to school)
