DescriptionOn Aug 7th 2013 Stan Lee had a meet and greet at the SF Giants ballpark before the game. For about 30 min. He talked w/ pitcher Sergio Romo (see photo) in front of 120 fans about "what the Hulk eats" and other such fan talk. Stan answered pre-written questions and told how he created Spider-Man ("...I saw a fly walking up a wall...") w/out ever mentioning Steve Ditko. No one mentioned Jack Kirby at all so, at the end when the announcer said there was time for a question from the audience, I made my move.

I was there in person and wanted to say thanks for the question about Jack Kirby (had no idea that he did the penciling on the giveaway print). At first, I thought it was a "plant question" from someone in Mr. Lee's group that was in the crowd, but found the video from Deryl's facebook. I wish more of the questions were more like yours instead of the "who would hit more home runs, Sergio or Captain America?" type. I was one of the people who cheered once you mentioned Jack Kirby

I put Jack's name in cuz, to me, that was the main thrust of this post. Sorry for the confusion. The debate about how much credit for the creation of Marvel characters Stan deserves has gone on since the 60's. I just wanted to see how much credit he might give Jack.

I knew Jack had passed in 1994. I just thought maybe it was a blueprint that Jack sitting around and Deryl and the rest of the team had modified a bit to bring up to date. Stan def gave jack his fair share of credit and I loved that closing statement he had.
