Description

This is from the Golden Age of John Byrne, that period when he was running from strip to strip and infusing them all with greatness, first with his art, then with his stories!...

For a Silver Age fan like myself, this was a joy to behold, as John was both breaking new ground and was deeply rooted in the principles of the Marvel Age as edicted in the 60's...

This particular one-shot, that saw him teamed with Stan Lee and Tom Palmer (no less!), is one of my favourite Byrne stories, and this page showing the Silver Surfer soaring above his estranged world was... just the one I needed!

Great page!And Byrne certainly has added a ton of magic to almost every strip he touched while keeping true to the spirit of the Silver Age.

Thanks Alessio! Jim Starlin developed an interesting theory in which the in-built poetry of the Surfer faded away when he was freed from Earth and the Galactus barrier. Somehow, there's still enough of that left when Stan Lee does the writing...
