Description"The Last Gorgon" by Frank BrunnerIn this battle Elektra and Hercules set out to finally put an end to one of the three mythological Gorgon sister's named Medusa. Daredevil was aware that Elektra was teaming up with Hercules to battle Medusa and decided to come by just in case they needed help. Hercules has already been turned to stone and Elektra is beginning to feel the effects. The MAN WITHOUT FEAR leaps into action from behind wielding a sword he picked up from Medusa's Temple of the Serpent in order to decapitate her and lift the spell from all her victims. Since Medusa can see whatever her head snakes can see, she knows Daredevil is leaping at her from behind....but does she know he's blind? Her quick turn and stare will not work this time! Frank is brilliant as always as he has positioned Medusa in the foreground with one serpent facing the viewer and the other with a profile view. The little details like the misty smoke surrounding her and Daredevil's shadow are nice touches. I especially like the columns of Medusa's temple, reminiscent of ancient Greek mythology. I think this would be an amazing image for Marvel to create a story around. Thank you Frank for another beauty that will go up on my wall. Social/Sharing |

Now this is one random matchup, but it makes sense when you think about it. Great job by Brunner!

WOw, this really is one epic commission! You really do see the entire story in this one image, which is not something just anyone can do. Brunner really nailed it! Congrats!

Only the Man Without Fear would dare to take on such a frightful foe. I love everything about the narrative of this one, D, and Frank's nuanced execution of your tremendously cool idea is phenomenal. The thoughtful execution and proportionality of the shadow on the pillar is a valuable feature, as it really sells the darkened, torch-lit environment. A keystone piece in your collection, sir.
