Description

Page 29 of prog 193 dated 3rd January 1981.

I have fond memories of this story.

Sci-fi horror. Space pirates. Biblical trappings. A robot sidekick with his own agenda. A larger-than-life baddie with a nice line in creative deaths and disfigurements. An immortal hero who went from a tousle-haired pin-up boy to a mutilated "freak that can't be killed". And, since Redondo was on art duties, a heroine with fabulous hair and cheekbones.

Exactly the sort of thing that kept the thrill-suckers at bay when I was a young chap.

That Rebellion is soon to be reprinting it after 30 years is proof of the existence of God as far as I am concerned.

Well there are at least three of us, Peter. Given the sad lack of reprints, RtoA is surprisingly highly-regarded - something that's obviously been picked up on as it's now finally getting a collection! Redondo didn't fare well at all, reprint-wise, being left out of the Titan Nemesis collections, but he's a fantastic artist. The page I have from RtoA (featuring an ice-entombed Destroyer) is definitely one of my favourites!
