Med-Judge O’Hare deserves her own spin-off series.

When all the judges are hallucinating a few progs earlier about what they really wanted right there and then, most of the judges hallucinate about being rescued, Dredd hallucinates that McGruder is dead, but O’Hare just hallucinates about doing her own job properly. Even on drugs, she’s focussed if delusional. O’Hare’s polite and respectful to citizens, always using “Mr” and “Mrs”. A fine judge, all in all (her ability to use a lawgiver excepted).

It would be like Casualty, I think, only with more blood and less petty bickering about career paths.

Mr Austin would be ideal to illustrate it. The uniform of the street judge is pretty much common for most of the artists but the specialist judges tend to vary in appearance a lot. Brendan McCarthy’s Tek-Judge’s are all mad helmets topped with mini-satellite dishes. Brett Ewins’ Tek-Judges look like something that Philippe Druillet might sketch if he was sending a character into a sci-fi arena to fight for its life.

Mr Austin in Wilderlands kept up the continuity of Carlos Ezquerra’s Med-Judges but in earlier stories, Mr Austin’s Med-Judges were uniformed in a swirl of zip-work, pockets tuffed with gadgetry and a general undercurrent of medico-fetish wear.
