DescriptionI am usually not that into recreations but after seeing what a great job Gary does at recreating Art's pieces I decided to commission him for my favorite Adams cover, Warlord of Mars Dejah Thoris #1. Since Art's original artwork is topless, I had Gary do the more family friendly version with the boob patch that on the published cover was added digitally. Thanks Gary!Social/Sharing |

So was this a blue line? I'm just wondering what Art Adams did on this piece.

Yeah, that does seem like a ton more work and it shows great, but the crediting part is probably what concerns me a bit more. Just looking at it, one might assume that Art penciled and Gary inked it, but since it's a really well done recreation that Art really had nothing to do with, it seems his name should be taken off or minimized as to not confuse a viewer or potential buyer. Maybe adding a "recreation by" between Art's name and Gary's name would help make it clear. I know it's a touchy subject, but Gary really outdid himself. Plus whoever owns the original piece or maybe Art might have problems with it, it's so good. This is just my two cents.

Whenever I have seen a reputable artist do a recreation based on another artist's work, they always give credit to the original artist. I based my attribution on how Gary and his other clients have done with his other Adams recreations.
