Description
The post Kree-Skrull war was a turbulent period for the Avengers, if only for the Storytellers/Artists permutations, with some wild storylines turns and, still, some great artistic teams trying to bring this all together.

Amidst all this, it's easy to overlook what is, after all, the 3rd Sentinel trilogy! With concepts that could have easily been fruitfully expanded over several additional issues, Roy Thomas, for his swansong on the title, gives a tight, action-packed plot that is beautifully illustrated by Rich Buckler (in full Adams meets Buscema mode) with lush inks by Joe Sinnott in one of his rare stints (his only?) on the Avengers...

All this plus Quicksilver who had only a precious few starring moments, except, like right here, when he opened a story in his own inimitable bad-tempered style!

The same all-star team of Thomas/Buckler/Sinnott would eventually return on Quicksilver during their great run on the FF, but I still think they reached their peak on the character right here!...

Thanks! Quicksilver's images are what attracted me too, this plus the rare Buckler/Sinnott combination on a story I fondly remember from my early teenage days!

Thanks Robert! I intend to keep it with me for a while: pages from this arc don't seem to pop up very often... And, yes, the Buckler/Sinnott team is in full gear here!

Love the Buckler/Sinnott team. I always thought Sinnott was one of the best inkers for Buckler.

Thanks Daren! Obviously Buckler and Sinnott went on to other great things with their FF run, but I always loved their Avengers arc better! I feel the art here is both wilder and slicker, a great blend of talents!

Great page! I loved Buckler's short run on the Avengers- really beautiful art with a great Adams feel beautifully complimented by Sinnott's crisp inks.

Thanks Bill! I agree with you, of course! Despite all the great artistes that immediately followed, I always felt this could have been the start of a long-running star team for the Avengers!...

Thnaks Shelton! You're right about Buckler, he made that mix all the more credible. And, with those smooth Sinnott inks...

Al, this is classic Buckler from the early 1970s.  His run on Avengers starting with #101, which he took over the title from the likes of Adams and BWS, was among my favorite art and storylines in the early 1970s. This is a great page.  Buckler's run on the Avengers in 1972, was basically why he was and continues to be one of my favorite artists.

Thanks Nick! Back then, Rich Buckler's name on the credits meant an immediate buy for me! And when it came to Deathlok! Boy...
