I'll admit right up front I didn't get this series. As much as I've enjoyed the Crusaders over the years this version just did nothing for me. From the tone of the thing to some of the redesigns I just wasn't feelin' it. That said, some of the art itself was pretty cool and when I came across Joltin' Johnny Lucas selling pages on eBay the prices were ~way~ to awesome to pass up.

This was the page that made me decide to bid. It was a lot of 5 pages but I think I got my money's worth with just this one. That great middle panel with Fly-Girl, the Golden Age Shield (hey, the page's mine now and I can make him whomever I want him to be :P ) and the Web. Plus you've got the re-designed Inferno and Warhawk. There's the wonderful panel of the Shield and Warhawk flying up. And while I've no idea who they are those three Middle Easterny style godlike beings floating up there. Just a cool, cool page with some great work from Carlos and John.
