DescriptionA fantastic page from very early in the series. Not only does it feature Bigby, Snow and Bluebeard prominently, it also shows the hook on the table in the background, which is a reference to the original plan to have Peter Pan as the adversary and have Captain Hook instead of Bluebeard.Signed by Lan Medina. From an interview in IGN: IGN Comics: I remember noticing Bluebeard had a hook on his dresser. Willingham: Right. Lan Medina included that as a reference to my original plan. In that topsy-turvy version, Pan was going to be the villain. I mean, come on, a guy who comes and steals people's kids? So maybe Hook wasn't the pirate Pan claims him to be. Hook was always getting on his ship and sailing to Never Never Land to rescue the children. He would have been a good guy. But that didn't work out. Instead, because I needed a design for Bluebeard, I thought Hook's would be great. Hook became Bluebeard. Now everyone can look back to their issue #2 of Fables and see the hook on the side table as a wink towards the original. And a link to the article. Social/Sharing |

Outstanding page, and great story behind it! Even going with “Plan B” (i.e - not having Pan as the adversary), it still is incredibly fun to imagine the story behind how Bluebeard ended up with Hook’s hook on his bureau there... Did Hook and Bluebeard meet up and wage a great battle across the span of the seven seas? Were they allies together in the fight against the adversary, and that’s all Bluebeard has let to remind him of his compatriot? Was it both? Like so many aspects of this incredible series, the lives and events of these characters and stories seem so much larger than the “confines” of the pages they’re represented on... GREAT Fables gallery! :)
