Description

When Primates: The Fearless Science of Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey, and Biruté Galdikas showed up in Diamond Previews, I placed my order with my local shop. The book is written by Jim Ottaviani and drawn by Maris Wicks. I love Jim's previous books starting with Two-Fisted Science and Dignifying Science. After reading and enjoying the book, I passed it along to my sister-in-law and niece. Maris had a table at Emerald City Comicon so I looked her up Friday morning. She didn't bring any pages, but we agreed on a drawing of Jane Goodall and a chimp. She finished that afternoon and says it's her first Primates commission request, not counting drawing in the book itself. Tom Spurgeon conducted an interview with Maris at The Comics Reporter.

Jim's name came up again when I was talking to writer Sara Ryan. We talked about her Bad Houses artist Carla Speed McNeil who's signature title is Finder, but I discovered her Hedy Lamarr story in Jim's Dignifying Science.
