"Tad" Dorgan: Outdoor Sports, 1922

Tad's style was so consistent in his Indoor/Outdoor Sports panels that it really takes a look at a lackluster example in order to see what makes for a good one. This panel seems rushed: the inking is sloppy (especially the brushwork) and there is little detail, almost no shading, etc. The hands are just terrible. Even the gag seems a little easy, a little mean-spirited (even for Tad!). I always think of drawings like this as "end of the batch" cartoons. Compare this to the radio-themed one I just posted, and you'll see what I mean.
