DescriptionThis second installment in my Nova fantasy cover series took quite some time to get done as it went back and forth between to continents.Pencils were provided by Cesar Gaspar from Mexico who's was taking commissions at The Statue Forum. After seeing some of his previous work I jumped on quick to get on his list. I really like the image he provided. Inks then went to JL Straw from the UK who's work I discovered in a Joe Sinnott inking challenge at Inkwell Awards. JL is new to the scene, but is someone to keep an eye on. I see great things ahead for her. I really like her use of inks and copics, especially the background. Letters and Logo's we once again provided by the uber-talented Chris Ivy who still seems to enjoy taking on these crazy covers for me. All in all a great finished product in the end. Story synopsis can be viewed below along with scans of the original art. Nova #11.2 Synopsis:(Quite long, but I had a lot on my mind.) The man called Nova’s life has been turned upside down. After an unexpected battle with The Cobalt man, Richard Rider’s girlfriend Ginger Jaye lies near death and paralyzed from fallen debris while watching the struggle. Rich and his friends Bernie and Caps wait for word on Gingers condition in a hospital lobby. While Rich show’s remorse over not being fast enough to save Ginger, Caps shows support for Nova(Not knowing that Nova and Rich are one in the same),saying he did everything he could. Bernie on the other hand makes a statement that will have lasting effects. “I wish we could go back in time so this did not happen” Rich knows that he is not able to time travel, but he knows of those who can, The Fantastic Four! Rich leaves his friends (much to their surprise) ,changes into Nova and flies to The Baxter Building. He is greeted by The Human Torch who is the only member on duty. Unfortunately The Torch informs Nova that the only working time machine is in Latveria and property of Dr.Doom. A desperate Nova knows he will have no choice but to ask Doom for help or take other measures. The Torch, knowing his presence in Latveria would stir the pot, gives Nova some direction to Doom’s castle Being the Human Rocket, Nova is able to make quick time from NYC to Latveria where he is welcomed with artillery and Dooms personal guard. A brief skirmish ensues leaving Nova at the steps of Dooms Castle residence. Doom appears to inform Nova he is not welcome and to leave. Nova tells Doom the reason for being there and Doom refuses to help. A brief skirmish between the the two leaves Doom the obvious victor and Nova in defeat. An even more desperate and emotional Nova pleads with Doom to give him use of his time machine to save the one he loves. Doom, not being without heart, feels pity for Nova and agrees to help him, warning Nova that his time machine(recently returned to him after the events in Marvel-Team up #41-46),is not functioning properly and may not be dependable. Nova accepts Doom’s offer of help and whatever consequences that may happen with the time machine. Doom provides a new hand held apparatus that can be programmed to direct the time platform to certain destinations through time and space, again warning this is a beta unit. Nova takes the hand held from Doom and sets the course to the approximate time before the accident with Ginger. The time platform appears over Nova moving downward until he fades from existence. Doom smiles behind his face plate. Next issue: ??? Social/Sharing |

Wait - are you saying Doom _can't_ be trusted? Cool.

I wouldn't trust him,but a 17 year old new to the scene super hero might. Doom has shown signs of humanity through out the years.

Saw JL's work and said what the heck. Not sure if you noticed the typo from Chris(wrath is wraith). Someone pointed it out to me on another forum where I posted this. Of course I would never complain about Chris's work.

Maybe this Wraith is what kicks off the story and sends Nova through time and space :)
