DescriptionThis commission is special to me for two reasons. First: It was done by the amazing Ian Richardson, who's art just blows me away. Second: It is the cover prelim for a web comic book I am co-writing with Darren Blackburn for his Nova 619 comic series. For those unfamiliar with the series,it is set in the post-war cosmic landscape after the original ground breaking Annihilation, the web comic charts a different path for Richard Rider, the last Nova Centurion, taking dangling concepts from Annihilation and weaving them into a new path for the Human Rocket to travel down, it opens up new stories as well as exploring those "missing pieces" that flew out the Annihilation War.I was approached by Darren to co-plot and help write a “lost episode” story for 619 and Darren went with my original plot for an adventure that takes place in the rain forests of Brazil and features two highly neglected villans, El Jaguar and Mankiller. The book is set for an April 2015 release. I encourage all fans of Nova to check out Nova 619 on Deviant art http://novaprime.deviantart.com/ and http://www.novaprimepage.com/619.asp. It's really a fun fix for those(Like me) who miss Richard Rider. Ian really did an awesome job with this commission. It will be inked and colored at some point before. the web book is released. This is actually my second commission from Ian. Waiting for some finishes on the first one before I post it. This guy really gives you your $$$ worth! Thanks Ian. Social/Sharing |

El Jaguar! I've always had a soft spot for El Jaguar!
I've thought of trying to put him in a commission before but never knew how. Clearly you've been inspired Rob! Nice one :)

Thanks Kevin! The story takes place in Brazil so there were not too many options for South American villans. EJ was the first to come to mind. Mankiller just sort of followed him there after their encounter with Daredevil and The Black Widow way back when. Also had a chance to play with EJ's origin as it was never revealed by The House of ideas.

Let's see: I recall El Jaguar first appearing in DAREDEVIL and Man-Killer debuting in MARVEL TEAM-UP. Ian Richardson's art is a joy to behold, and this is no exception. Congrats on a great piece.

I'm just helping out with a "lost episode" story that takes place in Nova's early days. Having a blast working with Darren and the art team. This will be old school fun for sure.
