DescriptionWhere to begin with this one. I have been a fan of Kelsey's for a long time. I discovered his work when he did some covers for Batman Adventures around 2003-2005ish. One cover in particular caught my eye. Freeze! Such a simple but very emotional piece. I LOVED it! Back in 2011, when I was rooting around on Deviantart.com, I came across Kelsey's gallery. I thought I would reach out to him and see if maybe he still had the cover. When he replied he told me that cover was created digitally but he was willing to do a pen and ink recreation for me once he finished a large project he was working on. SWEET!!Well, over time I would check in with him and post comments on pieces in his gallery. He would always say, "I haven't forgotten about you, Freeze!!" To keep this post short (too late), flash forward to 2014. Kelsey and I have a mutual artist friend that I would mention my love for Kelsey's work and this particular piece. With the artist's approval, I was put in touch with Kelsey directly. Mr. Shannon has been really great with talking to about his ideas on recreating this cover as well as sending me early prelims, WIPs, video of him inking, etc. (see below) https://vimeo.com/101185391 Kelsey Shannon is an artist of many talents. Brilliant in every way, Patrick. I can see why you gravitated to it in the first place, and I, too, am enchanted by its somber, yet profoundly evocative, imagery. Supremely impressed.

Holy crap, how did I miss commenting!! I know this was grail piece for you, this turned out great - CONGRATULATIONS! Love seeing the WIP pics, as the piece evolved! The prelim version was 'cool' but the published version is 'chillingly' awesome!
