i am so very happy to score a second tarzan page by jesse marsh - and in particular one that is so wonderfully minimal... this is a later page - from 1965, and you can see him really thinking about how to tell a visual story with minor means...

the perspective is almost surreal, and of the 11 word balloons, there is only one that contains actual human words, leaving the reader with an atmosphere of sounds...

while marsh's work tends to be somewhat crude, it can also be quite subtle - note the skeletons in the second panel in relation to the dark heavy inking in the center panel. marsh was clearly thinking about the weight of stone and the lightness of flight.

this is from the stone-headed arrow story from tarzan issue 152.

Awesome, I was thinking about bidding on this page but missed it. When I owned my first pages which I later sold, I didn't fully appreciate how great he was as an artist.

yeah I looked at this page a bunch of times in the auction and just thought it was amazing. I am so glad you bought it. That first panel kills me.
