DescriptionA great story illustration, but this one has me stumped as far as what it was used for. I thought perhaps it's a cover illustration for a pulp magazine, but having gone through all of the 1940s crime/detective pulps, I'm starting to think that this was a rejected design that was never published. Anyone have any clue? Shows a police officer and a couple of detectives investigating the scene of a murder in a theater dressing room. Signed E.C. -45- on the steamer trunk.Social/Sharing |

Most likely an interior for True whcih was a slick i nthe 1940's or argosy once it left the pulp format- May guess is that it is after Ernie left the pulps or very early on in his later career -might be a sample but Iwould guess t hat it is an interior and done proabbly for a male slick magazine

More likely argosy as this looks more like a fiction illo
