John Rosenberger - Forbidden Love Splash

I always wonder about these "Written Off" inventory stories. Did the editors just over-assign work? I assume the artist got paid. Or did the book end prematurely? Or, when they got the art back, did the editor re-read the story and decide it was not good enough to publish? Or would be published later? From what it looks here, it was inventoried from 1973-5.

I guess any one of these things could be true.

Here is the splash to a 4-page sequence I own from an unpubnlished story called Forbidden Love. Basically, it is the story of a girl named Jan that seems to be hounded by men all the time because they think... well what are they thinking? She wants to be man-handled? In this splash, they all want her to loosen up, stop fighting and give in. Heady stuff for 1973-5.

As the story progresses, Jan is on a roof tending to pigeons when two other guys attack her only to be driven off by a kindly priest. I have no idea how it ends, but any story with pigeons can't end well.
