DescriptionThis is the title splash page of "Strike Fever" from 'Wonder Wart-Hog The Hog of Steel' #2. I believe this was page 24 of the magazine, published in 1968.One of my 4th grade buddies used to blow our minds by sneaking his older brother's underground comics into school. I had the unusual experience of reading Wonder Wart-Hog before I read most superhero comics. I didn't get a lot of the references, of course, but I loved the irreverence. This was reprinted in Underground Classics 7 (1988) and again in The Best of Wonder Wart-Hog (2013). Tony Bell was a talented artist/designer and fellow UT Austin alum, and their collaboration on WWW is usually considered the best period for the art. Social/Sharing |
