DescriptionI saw these on Mitch's table at the '94 SDCC and grabbed them without knowing a thing about either the artist or what they were from. I think they're absolutely beautiful, with confident draftsmanship and brilliant brush work. Another CAF member clued me in on where they were from, and I've only now (in 2024) looked up the finished comic pages (which I've added as additional images).Frankly, the final pages are disappointing. Gary Martin is a fine inker, so I have to assume David Williams was drawing much more tightly on these pencils than during his prelims, or he was going for a certain look. After doing some research, I'm not surprised to learn that David Williams left off comics and became an accomplished animation story board artist and character designer at Warner Bros on Batman TAS. There's a wonderfully animated feel to these prelims. Additional fun fact - he goes by the nickname 'Brohawk' Social/Sharing |

Absolutely gorgeous prelims and I don't know a think about the book. I love the different shades of coloring which makes this piece interesting to look at. I also like how they are out of sequence compared to the final book.

Thanks, John! Regarding the order, there's actually two pieces of paper here. The firgure on the right is on it's own piece, with the signature, apparently having been cut away from a larger piece, while the two figures to the left are on the same piece of paper with a lot of blank space to the right. I just put them in the scanner together. When I bought them they were in a plastic sleeve in this orientation and I thought it worked.
