I have to agree with everyone else, Zack: this is absolutely stunning. Only Mignola can keep up with Mr. Lee in terms of the efficacy of employing shadows in their work, and - boy howdy - the negative space is masterfully executed here (especially on Stephen's left hand and arm). The effect of a piece that features a hero emerging from (or working within) the shadows always feels different to me when it contains the good Doctor... When someone like Daredevil, Spider-Man, Batman, The Punisher, etc. bursts forth from darkness, a thrill comes from the fear you know the criminal element are feeling in that moment; how our heroes wield it against those who would harm us. With Doctor Strange, the relief comes knowing there is someone stepping between us and a greater - possibly unknown - darkness being aimed or wielded directly against US. This is a fantastic piece: "Help has arrived; the Doctor is here."
