You are an awful tease, Eric. I am sure when this poor sucker read the first two sentences, he started getting excited. Then the let down and the evil villain laugh at the end! Lol.
Haha! Actually, Oli is a dear friend. And I'm sure he knew my answer even before he made the proposal. I think it was just his way of paying this piece the ultimate compliment. And I understood that as well. No teasing involved, I promise. LOL!
Perfection. Didn't remember that Adams & PCR worked together.
I remember talking to both Arthur and Mignola when they were young single guys living in the next town over. They were both huge fans of Craig's work. I'm sure Arthur was thrilled to have PCR ink this one (along with issues 5, 6, and 7 as well). Just lucky that I own three of them.
Still my preferred with your Subby <3
Haha! As if I needed reminding. Don't worry my friend. You are first on my list. Stay safe brother!
Do I remember this! Such a pretty cover, and so much style
I was new to comic books when these came out - it was a great jumping on point. Reading the current issues but also the "Classic" book helped fill in blanks and round out my understanding of the mutant characters I'd grown to love so much.
Art is part of that, for me, so these covers are all nostalgia gold!
Looking at you 100th acquisition made me look back at this piece, in my opinion the best of Arthur's covers on Classic. The two pieces perfectly represent the evolution of a character and of an artist. Amazing!
I was wondering how long it would take for someone to make this connection. For me, it's really a double evolution. Not just of the character, but Arthur's style and growth as well. Obviously in the case of this cover, he had a little help from Russell. But as his skill and confidence grew, he quickly established himself to be his own best inker. Honestly, one of the best things about this 40 year journey is not just being able to look back at an incredible body of work, but to see how this shy, quiet, completely untrained young comic fan turn himself into one of the medium's greatest living artists. Thank you for the comment my friend.
I always enjoy seeing how different inkers tackled Art back in the day. Some were more successful than others, but PCR does such a graceful job. Lovely combo!
