So, when you're planning a wedding as a comic art collector, the one thing you hope is that your future wife allows you to somehow inject some of your passion into the wedding itself. i had wanted to get one of my comic art friends to help design the wedding invite and menu. The tough part was to find a "comic artist" that would fit in with the theme.

Well, that's the great thing about Gerhard's style, he may be a "comic" artist, but his style is more in line with the illustrators of years gone by. My wife to be had wanted an "etching" style and wanted to capture something that was personal to us...

We live by the beach and each day, a flock of wild "parrots" (actually black-hooded parakeets) comes and visits to watch the sunset. They gather in the palm trees behind our house. She thought it would nice to show two of the parrots sitting in the tree together watching the sunset.

It just so happened that Gerhard was visiting after the 2014 Big Wow show. So, he got out his camera and took a bunch of reference shots. As we were crunched to get the design to the printers, it required poor Gerhard to finish the drawing in my kitchen. Not quite the most optimal of drawing conditions, but I think it turned out fantastic! It was the perfect way to announce the wedding and at the same time, create a lasting memory of our home, the wedding, and Gerhard's visit. And, I walked away with another piece of art for my (I mean our) collection!

So, if you're considering getting married or having a classy party... have I got a guy for you! You would think he does this all the time!
