Description

Few villains manage to play a major role in three of Marvel's most popular heroes' stories, Spider-Man, Daredevil and The Punisher, but Wilson Fisk (a.k.a. The Kingpin) has been doing so for decades. This beautiful, published, full-body pinup of Fisk, which was penciled, inked, hand-colored and signed by his co-creator, John Romita Sr., captures The Kingpin in all of his glory. The art is drawn on 8.6 by 11.2 inch art board.

After doing some research, I found that this was drawn as part of a Spider-Man portfolio that was offered in the 1970 Marvelmania Catalog. Those printed images were in black and white (see the additional images, *special thanks to BRAUNY). So why Romita so carefully hand-colored this original is a bit of a mystery. The other thing worth noting is that this image also seems to be a bit of an homage to the cover of The Amazing Spider-Man Issue #85 (see additional images).
