I was shocked to read that yesterday Glen Orbik pasted away.. He was an amazing artist.

A few months ago I bought the "Wizards Champion" and we had some nice email contact.
This is what Glen mentioned about 'his baby' in the last email:

It was my 1st official book cover sample piece. I used two of my favorite models from art school. We were planning a trip to New York City to talk with book publishers . We did this piece to show off the sort of work we could do and wanted to do. We made up flyers and cards and sent this image to all the major art directors before we went to meet them in person. Then we actually took this original art with us all over New York in every taxi cab we got into. It opened up all the doors for us. The book cover guys couldn't actually print a "topless" piece but every single one of them all said " oh yea, I remember this one!" This is the actual art that specifically got us started in the book cover business.

That's why I had hung on to it for so many years but now decided it was time to share it. :^)

His DC Pulp covers and American Century covers were great. I'm glad to find out he was also an art teacher.

What a great, memorable painting! I still can't believe Glen is gone. He helped train the current generation of illustrators and representational fine artists. Thanks for posting!
