June 2023 update:
When I saw the Additional Image online it did remind me of the cool Frenz piece I'd commissioned, but I really didn't think they were so closely related until I found this quote at Deviant Art:
"(After a Ron Frenz con sketch) WIP of ol' X-51 Machine Man, another under the radar Kirby gem from back in the day. A rework of an earlier version of MM I wasn't happy with."
