DescriptionDanny Franks is alive - but can Kano believe it? I'd love to read the panel description for the wordless image of Kano that kicks this page off - you wouldn't think it was possible to combine stoic self-control with clear surprise and maybe, just maybe, a dose of deeply-suppressed relief - but Ewins & McCarthy manage it. Not quite Spock's 'Amok Time' joy at Kirk's resurrection, but probably as close as Kano will get. A superlative character study then, almost equaled by Danny's 'zen' state in the final panel.On the subject of life and death, this is the first Bad Company page to come into my possession since Brett Ewins' untimely passing in February of this year. I didn't know him personally, but his art has had a massive impact on my life. He leaves behind him a remarkable and, as Danny Franks might say, wonderful legacy. R.I.P. Brett. Social/Sharing |
