DescriptionOne of the comics that completely caught my imagination when I was young teenager was the crazy run done by Ann Nocenti, John Romita Jr and Al Williamson coming together on Daredevil. The story and artwork just connected with me and I was always reading these issues until the comic pages were falling apart in my hands. I was on a hunt forever for a great page from this team and I finally got my hands on a great page at the HA auction last year. I love the first 2 panels with the two "woosh" sound effects and the nonchalant look of Daredevil as he easily dodges the attack. While Romita Jr's artwork is not always to everyone's taste, Al Williamson was the perfect partner for his pencils. I absolutely love the dark inked trees in the background. Williamson was a master in so many ways and I'm glad that I got to have a piece featuring both of these talents work in my gallery. Here's a win for nostalgia. I just wonder if the stories still holds up since I haven't read them since those early days.Social/Sharing |

Totally agree, I love this run--Nocenti is such an under-rated writer, and JRJR and Williamson were absolutely perfect together illustrating her weird stories. Beautiful inks by Williamson here--congrats!

Yes cool piece of the great, great team JRJR/Williamson! It is so elegant art that these two produced in their two DD runs and the Spiderman albums. It really shows how important the combination of inker/ penciller is. Compare it with the outcome of JRJR/Janson or JRJR/Green art ( or the Oliffe/Williamson etc.) and you see what hell of a team these both were. Great art!

Fantastic page. All the panels are great and tell the story without words. You were a more art savvy teen than I was. i loved daredevil but didn't like this jrjr run on it. i didn't like the art and the story didn't appeal to me. I kept waiting for it to end and for them to get an artist who could draw back on the book. Years later, looking back at the art and the story, it was a pretty important run both content and art wise. Some of the best DD material. It holds up. I think it was on Daredevil that JRjr found his form. I have often said that I think Al Williamson made JRjr's career by figuring out how to ink him. Everyone since has taken his lead. Through Al's works over his pencils, Romita Jr. also learned to become a better artist and grew immensely during this run. A great page from a very important run. More than just nostalgia, great art and story that holds up.

Fantastic page, and the Nocenti-JRJR-Williamson run on DD was special. Was it ever collected into a TPB? I especially liked the Ultron arc. Nice addition to your collection!
