Descriptionwhen i started collecting comic art i was specifically looking for pages featuring psychedelic and cosmic cosmic imagery... certainly jack was the king of such things, but gil kane and wally wood's work on the captain action series, certainly fit the bill with some absolutely crazy imagery. one of the first pages i bought was a full page splash of dr. evil... looking as if he was tripping on mushrooms (see my CAF gallery 1960's)... a year or so ago, i finally bought a page with captain action, and about a month ago, i scored another page off ebay from a different issue, which must be one of the craziest pages of the run. what's extra special is that wally wood did the inks, and gil kane did the pencils - one of my favorite art combos, and the imagery is so insane, one might think they were looking at wolverton! (check out the bottom left panel!) this is the kind of insanity i loved as a kid...!!!!Social/Sharing |

Naked to the stars, exposing his brain to the cold of space. It doesn't get any weirder!

It's an amazingly trippy array of images. The brain with the optic nerves floating in an ocean of cosmic awakening is very creepy. Great stuff.

Braaaaaaains! Love it! This is great. You've hit the trippy Captain Action trifecta now. Congrats!

I was seriously tempted by this page. (I love origin pages!) The timing just wasn't right, though... to your benefit. Congratulations on this. I'm really happy that it landed in a great collection and is here on display at CAF.

This is a great team of artists! The solid linework looks like a precursor to today's style.
