Description

Kinstler is best known these days for his portraits of various famous people, including official White House portraits. Back in his comic days he drew some famous people as well, The character featured is David Farragut, for whom the rank of Rear Admiral was first used in the United States. He was later the first Vice-Admiral & Admiral of the United States Navy. He was a pall bearer at President Lincoln's funeral. He is best known for the phrase "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!"
