Description

Sonny Schug is an aviation artist, illustrator and fine art painter working in Scottsdale, Arizona. He offered this painting on ebay and I'm happy to add it to my collection. Vought OS2U Kingfisher floatplane were stationed aboard battleships and cruisers during World War II. They carried out searches. They flew over targets and observed the fall of fire. They rescued downed air crews. I remember one photo with nearly a dozen men hanging onto a Kingfisher near an invasion beach. The pilot taxied his plane on the water to a rendezvous with a submarine which picked up the men.
