Description

I can't believe it's been 33 years since I wrote to Maurice Sendak, but the date on the letter doesn't lie! I had written him a fan letter, mentioning Crockett Johnson, another children's book (and comic strip) great. I didn't realize at the time that Crockett Johnson and his wife Ruth Krause were such mentors to Sendak when he was starting out. A lovely association piece. And the sketch doesn't hurt either.

It is with regret that I have learned that today's Wild Rumpus has been cancelled. In its stead, we must consider the "unfillable space" left by Mr. Sendak's passing.
