Good timing on this one as I too had my eye on the closing page to one of my all-time-favorite Byrne FF tales, congrats!!

It says a little something about John Byrne that he would write a story where The Watcher would personally come and give him an update. Darn near puts John on the level of Stan.

P.S. - I loved this story like I loved all the Byrne Fantastic Four stories. All just awesome.

Byrne had a knack for taking Silver Age tropes, even the ones that would have seemed a bit hokey to Bronze Age readers (in this case, Marvel's real-world artists/writers having interactions with their fictional characters in the comics they create), and giving it an updated spin that worked for his 80s-era audience.

I've always loved John Byrne since the X-Men days, and I loved his run on FF. The sheer joy and endurance of great comics. This is such a great page, the dialogue is so cool. Fun touch with the Grateful Dead shirt too, wonderful page all around.
