Puma vs Spiderman by Ron Frenz

When I think about Mr Frenz's work, his contribution to the Spiderman mythos immediately comes to mind.

So when commissioning him last year, I knew I had to go for a Spiderman-related commission. I knew I had to get a red & blue costume commission and quickly decided to go as well for a black costume one. Mr Frenz drew most of the early black costume issues but he drew his fair share of the regular Spiderman ones. So Firelord was a go but the Puma choice actually came first. I LOVED the introduction of Puma in Amazing as well as what J.M Dematteis later did with him in Spectacular.

And while I really like what Mr Frenz did with the black costume commission, I really really love this one. The intensity of it really captures those Amazing issues in which Spidey was in difficulty against the feral Puma.

I love his work and I’m planning more down the line.
