DescriptionFrom the bowels of Savage Sword of Conan #18 comes this magical work of art perfectly executed by the ever loved duo of Big John Buscema and Alfredo Alcala. I missed out on this piece at auction 2 years ago, and to say I was disappointed would be a gross understatement. To me, this page is so much more than a great looking comic/magazine page, it’s a stand alone work of art.I’m beyond thrilled to say that, thanks to two people, this page is now making it’s travels over the Atlantic to find a new home under my care. I want to thank Marvelman Excelsior for remembering me and my love for this page when it came time for him to release his hold on it, and I want to “again” thank Steve Kriozere for coming to the rescue and helping me secure the deal! Beautiful page, but I as usual it looks like 100% Alcala, he was Big Johns worst inker...

I find some of the most beautiful comic art our there is Alcala's, and even better so, when it's over the top of Buscema's pencils.

I know there's some controversy (fueled by Big John himself, I heard) about his pairing with Alfredo Alcala, but I do count myself as an absolute fan of their Savage Sword of Conan work together! As you say, this goes beyond comic book storytelling and touches the borders of fine art. Congrats for having secured such a beautiful example of their collaboration!

Wonderful page, perfectly composed by Big John and masterfully embellished by Alcala!

The overpowering inking of Alcala totally rules this page, but it is still pure Buscema. Fantastic splash!

I actually love Alcala inks over Buscema pencils. I understand that this is not sole Buscema anymore but Alcala added so much „old style“ and delicate inks that this imho definitely adds more then it takes away.

I remember bidding on this page. But it found a good home at least.

Awesome page - interesting debate but there is no doubt it is Buscema / Alcala at a glance so both artists had a clear role, right?

So hard to let go of this beauty, but I love revisiting and seeing it being admired, as it should be! The piece remains in good hands!
