DescriptionSeattle Emerald City Comicon 2016Raina Telgemeier was set up in Artist Alley with a portfolio of art. I picked out a page labeled BSC SPOT 113 with this Claudia Kishi illustration in the upper left and the laughing girls Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Speir, and Stacey McGill in the lower right. This turns out to be from The Baby-Sitters Club: Kristy's Great Idea, the first Scholastic Graphix adaptation of the Ann M. Martin prose books. Claudia is writing up notes on her latest baby-sitting job to share with her fellow club members. Raina's Smile, Drama, Sisters, and three of the re-issued color Baby-Sitters Club adaptations are on the New York Times Paperback Graphic Books Best Sellers list. When I showed my Seattle acquisitions to Steve Lieber, he called Raina "the voice of her generation." Social/Sharing |
