Description

Finished pen and ink illustration from Wandering Star's Conan of Cimmeria. This is from The Phoenix on the Sword, a tale of Conan as King. Mark was a guest at the Cincy ComicCon last September 2015 and I got this directly from him. I was able to spend some time talking with Mark and, as always, found him to be one of the nicest people I've met. He is humble about his talent and success and he is welcoming to his fans.

I love this image showing Conan later in his life as an educated man. It's a side of this surprisingly well-rounded literary creation that we usually don't see or think about. In 2015 I had my heart set on finding an illustration from this exquisite book and I did, from the same story. Big-time congrats to you for managing to get one featuring Conan himself! This is beautiful.
