Description

In my humble opinion, the single greatest illustration of Superman ever done is Neal Adams' stunning full figure image of the Man of Steel, which was published as the back cover of the Famous First Edition of Action Comics #1 in 1974. For me, as a boy of 10 years old, this amazing artwork stands as the absolute quintessential representation of the First and Greatest of all Superheroes, bar none.

Superman, standing tall and strong with an otherworldly majesty and Larger-than-Life presence. Indomitable, with his handsome chiseled features, perfectly proportioned body with his billowing cape flowing out from him like a bright medieval banner announcing his arrival. And, of course, his bold iconic "S" symbol prominently displayed across his massive chest. And the fact that Neal recreated this image upon metallic gold paper with elegant white painted highlights recalls for us that his very first appearance in Action Comics #1 in June of 1938 was the most significant event in all of comic book history - the beginning of the famed Golden-Age of Comic Books.

This piece is inked with a quill pen and oversized, as it should be - A Wonder to Behold in every aspect possible! I'm 10 years old again.
