Description

Signed by John Wagner, Colin MacNeil and Tim Perkins.

The Chopper pages are not photocopies, but were created using a reprographic technique known in the industry as Kentmereing.
The blackline was reproduced onto special watercolour paper called Kentmere, which is a heavy duty and quite thick watercolour paper stock.
This was a very expensive additional cost to the early days of 2000AD becoming a full colour comicbook. They came in in the late eighties at a cost of £50.00+ just for each print.
The reason for using this technique was these were done pre-digital age and Colin had drawn them originally on Bristol Board, which was too slick a surface to produce painted work on.
I painted just over half the story, as Colin had already drawn theses pages as black and white art. At the same time as I was doing my bit, Colin was asked to switch to fully painted art.
When it was suddenly decided to go full-colour a huge back inventory of B&W art had to be tunred into colour, which was great for me, as I got all the artwork to paint.
