DescriptionIn terms of the definitive Punisher argument, the answer is simple - Zaffino, but Golden's cover run is damn close...right beside Zeck and JRJR. Needless to say, I am beyond thrilled to own this amazing cover by the legend himself. This run came right at the beginning of my introduction to comics and I couldn't be happier to own a piece from my childhood.I think what stands out most for me, is how this incorporates classic Golden with modern Golden. The layout and motion of the piece screams classic, while the tech and the tightness of the inks is more indicative of Michael's modern work. I had to do a few up-close scans of the piece just to find the subtle pencil/ink/white-out spots that typically reveal that a piece is original...I could hardly find any. I'm just amazed at the mastery and worksmanship that went into it (The Logo Lettering was even modified and cut to make room for the bullet shells that Michael drew) Again, this is an absolute grail for me. Golden's Punisher War Zone covers from this era are under-rated--so clean and tight, and packed with detail. There's so much to look at here, but it's no less dynamic for all that detail. Great pick-up!

To me, a standout cover from Golden! The perspective is just crazy and his use of blacks is second to none. Really cool. Congrats on winning this!
