Description

Will Crawford is one of my favorite illustrator cartoonists, and I've been looking for one of his fully packed scenes for a long, long time. This piece, titled "The War for America", is circa 1915, and likely saw print in one of the major publications that Crawford worked for. The pen work in the piece is simply terrific, and while it can't be made out all that well in the main scan, the detail should provide a glimpse into the work of this great pen man of the past.

Unlikely to appeal to mainstream super-hero collectors (or collectors of trashy nude pin-ups), but certainly a refreshing change to some of us tired of the norm. Fascinating piece, congrats!
