Very special page that simply radiates with that old vintage Golden-Age feel we all love so much. Original art for the final page of All-Star Squadron #36 (DC, 1984), by the talented Rich Buckler (pencils) and Richard Howell (inks). Page features the climatic scene for Roy Thomas' WW II tale, "Thunder Over London!" Here, the All-Star Squadron (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and Hawkman) discover to their sure amazement that they are not the only super-powered beings fighting in the war. This piece represents one of those rare and sought-after transformation pages as Freddy Freeman and Mary Batson speak the magic words, "Captain Marvel!" and "SHAZAM!," which changes them into Captain Marvel Jr. and Mary Marvel that shocks the All-Star Squadron, who mistake them both as Hitler youth. The final 1/3 splash is terrific and make sure you do not miss Buckler's subtle stylistic nod to Golden-Age legend Mac Raboy in panel two. What collecting is all about!
