Description

With all the focus on the 70's Marvel Super Chicks..I'm more than alittle surprised that Tigra isn't used more -and used better when she is used....I always liked her...she had a "Power Vamp" look.....this is going up before the NYC show-get her before she "slinks down the alleyway" with her "Stray Cat Strut"...and no....I won't do any "pussy"-cat jokes about the piece.-Tigra's a lady.................( at no point were any "recreations" harmed in the making of this art).

Another beautiful piece with a 70's character. I think you still need to do a Phantom Lady :) I hope you used real inking tools, lol.

Sadly...I use the Micron pen also...but I do use Pelikan ink in the Windsor Newton- series #7 No.2 watercolour brush.

i don't see why more inkers don't use the brush. all the best do...frazetta,tex,yourself,tim vigil, beachum, dave steves, adam hughes...so many more. there are exceptions though...frank cho, mike kaluta. i use microns as well, but normally just for inorganic stuff, like cars or buildings. still some meduims seem to work best for nibs, like sci-fi...i'd never do a western comic without a brush.

Why does it matter what is used as long as the end result is original, and is pleasing to the viewer? Sure, there are preferred instruments, but telling an artist what instrument to use for what line isn't promoting art, its creating a machine. If we had told Alex Ross he could only use pencils and inks when creating a comic book, we'd never have had Marvels, Kingdom Come, etc.etc.etc.

MEOW! What a great piece. I love the 70's female characters. Your line work is top notch. You mentioned you used micro pens, did you use a french curve for some or the hair or tail? They look so rounded and perfectly fluid. AWSOME pose and expression.

I use whatever works...the only thing that counts is the final image.

I have some french curves but never got the hang of them. I have a hard time inking circles but since I don't ink much, I never really tried that hard to get better at it. I don't really understand the whole argument about what type of tools used is all about. I read the post that mentioned it, but like you said, use whatever works, it's the end result that counts. Some artist use drafting pencils or real expensive tools, me I use a pental mechanical pencil you can pick up at Wal-mart. I always looked at it like basketball, you can go buy the expensive shoes, but they aren't going to make you a better player. Again, great stuff!

mike is correct,i also am a believer in whatever works. the end result is all that matters. i use nibs, microns, brushes, even oddities like q-tips or sponges...even airbrush/toothbrush...

Sorry if we lost you there, Mark Spears. It was kind of an inside joke. Basically, another"artist" had taken some potshots at Cho and Bair about using "real inking tools"

Well i need to go get me some of those 'correct' tools then. hahaha. Cho and Bair can use a screwdriver dipped in chocolate and it would probally look great.
